Mary Elizabeth Cep takes the opportunity of a family move from New York City to the Jersey suburbs to reinvent herself. She becomes "Lola," announces that her very alive divorced father is dead, and sets out to take her new high school by storm through her Drama Society role of Eliza in Pygmalion. Lola has not, however, made allowances for Carla Santini, her school's current reigning social queen. Neither has she anticipated the demise of her favorite rock group. These unexpected factors play havoc with Lola's--and her best friend Ella's--plans. With their teenage world crashing around them, Lola must orchestrate her biggest bluff yet.
